This card has a great line up of talent, if you haven’t seen a boxing match live before, you don’t know what you are missing. The lights go down low, the music starts to play loud, you feel the electricity in the air, the boos and cheers go through your bones, your body gets tight, then hot, you start to sweat,  before you know it, your yelling and cheering for boxers you don’t even know and then you feel like your in the ring fighting with them your adrenaline is pumping so fast and then before you know it the lights come on and it is over. There isn’t another feeling like it. So if you haven’t experienced this, support your local boxers and others that have trained just as hard and traveled from various states to be at Black Bear Casino, Carlton, MN on November 12, 2016. Jason Litzau will return to the ring after a year layoff, to show that the American Boy still has what it takes to be on top in the Main Event. He will be fighting for the vacant Jr. Welterweight Minnesota State title against a very slick and crafty boxer, Jeremy McLaurin. Well tonight’s fight card on June 11th, 2016, Battle at the Bear will feature some great talent and among them will be four of Duluth, Minnesota’s skilled boxers. Headlining the show, after almost a two year layoff will be super lightweight R.J. “T-Rex” Laase 12-2 who was suppose to fight a few months back for his return to the ring but his opponent couldn’t make the weight, so Laase continued to train and wait for his next opportunity. Now his first fight back since his loss to Rondale Hubbert almost two years ago for the Minnesota State Super Lightweight Title will be in the Main Event against a very tough opponent the Wisconsin Super Welterweight champion Benito Tovar 7-2-4. The reason for his long absence from the ring was because he chose to go back to college and finish his earning his degree. The Co-Main Event will feature Cruiserweight Al “The Haitian Temptation” Sands 16-2, who has had a great training camp with some new teammates and is excited to be stepping up against the crafty veteran “Dangerous” Damon Reed 48-18 who has been in the ring with some of the best, James Toney, Hasim Rahman, and the Heavyweight Champion of the World, Deontay Wilder. Al Sands knows to step up to the next level, he must beat Reed who is coming off of a win over undefeated Aaron Green. To get the action started for the Duluth fighters you will also see in the ring welterweight Markus “The Hope of the Hillside” Morris 8-2 taking on a crafty veteran as well. He will test his boxing skills against a guy who has seen it all, Wayne Martell 25-5-1. The newest professional boxer to come out of Duluth Cruiserweight  Ryan Watson 2-0 , will also be showcasing his talent. He was a very outstanding amateur boxer and he will be going head to head with Tommy Ray 3-1 .The rumor is that Ray called him out for this fight and this won’t be the first time they have met in the ring, their last meeting was in the amateurs, the question is what will happen when they meet as professionals for the first time.  Also some time during the night it will get Nasty. You will see Cloquet’s Lightweight Winston “Nasty Time” Anderson 4-2 returning to the ring after suffering two back to back knock outs, he is excited to show his fans what he has been working on. He has recently changed gyms and trainers and has said he feels a lot better about what has been going on with his training leading up to this fight. So make sure you don’t miss him show off his boxing skills against Aaron Ely 1-1 who is known  as an MMA/Boxer. This card features a lot more action packed boxers from other areas as well.   It is an eight bout fight card. Doors open at 6pm and fights start at 7pm. This is Jim Loons’ first show at Black Bear Casino, Carlton, MN. and hopefully the first of many. So come out and support the local talent and enjoy some great fights. Al Sands takes the first step into the Danger Zone

Championship Boxing at Black Bear, April 19, 2014 3164

Over the last year Cruiserweight Al “The Haitian Temptation” Sands 16(14)-2 has been doing a lot of soul searching inside and outside the ring. He has put some much needed puzzle pieces together in his life. Two of those pieces are Mike McKean former amateur boxer as his Manager/Trainer and more recently he has brought in as his Co-Manager John D’Auria who has in the past been known more as a boxing photographer and boxing writer/ interviewer for Boxing with the Truth.  Between the two of these men they have a lot of boxing knowledge to offer Al Sands, and being the sponge that he is, I am sure he will adsorb a lot of it. Hopefully the three of them will be able to take his career to the next level. He has also started his own amateur team of boxers “The Haitian Temptation Team” which consists of about twenty individuals. He is currently training out of I.S.T. gym in Duluth, MN but is presently working on opening up a gym upstairs from there to help his team continue to grow. He started out 2016 with a 2nd round TKO over Gary Tapusoa in January and now he is in camp preparing for the most experienced boxer he has face yet. On June 11th, 2016 he will face Damon “Dangerous” Reed 48(32)-18, a crafty veteran who most recently upset 16-0 Aaron Green. He has been in with some of the best in the sport. Hasim Rahman, James Toney, Monte Barrett,  prospect Jordan Shimmell and Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder among other great talent. In order for Al and his new team to move to the next level he has to show convincingly that he can get passed guys like Reed. There is not a lot of Cruiserweights left for Al Sands to face in the State of Minnesota, so one of his goals after this fight is to test the waters on the road and to try and  get matched up with some out of state fights. He loves his hometown fans and the support he has received this far in his career but to make it to the next level, he has to not only let Minnesota know who he is but he has to make his mark on the entire nation and hopefully the world. The team has a plan and they have goals and this year is all about putting the pieces together and starting to reach those goals one step at a time and one fight at a time. So look for Al Sands hopefully to be in the ring at least three more times after June 11th if things work out.  This is the first step into the danger zone, but if you want to reach the next level in any sport, you have to take risks and step up the competition. It is time for Al Sands to grow as a man and a fighter. See you at the next level. #TheTruthHasSpoken

Pay Al Sands $100,000 to beat you

Championship Boxing at Black Bear, April 19, 2014 4017

This Sunday, March 20th, Roy Jones Jr. will climb into the ring against a boxing fan from Minneapolis, MN. 33 year old Vyron Phillips is a former amateur boxer and MMA fighter that was some how picked to have a chance to beat Roy Jones Jr. in a fight on Pay-Per-View in Arizona and if he wins he will receive $100,000. Well I know another person that would love to fight Roy Jones Jr. from Duluth, MN and that is Professional boxer Al “The Haitian Temptation” Sands 16(14)-2 and I am sure he would be willing to take even a quarter of what Vyron Phillips is being paid. I know some Jones’ team has been contacted more then once about a fight with Sands and there has been no response. So I guess Roy Jones has fallen so far that the only people left he can beat is a former amateur boxer. What if  Vyron Phillips wins. Then there is nowhere left for Jones to go but into retirement. If you go from being a World champion to the point where a fan has a chance to beat you, it is time to watch boxing and no longer fight. I wish Vyron Phillips good luck and I truly hope that he wins. I personally think this is a joke to waste all of this money on this fight and a black mark on Roy Jones’ career that someone is even allowing this is, is ridiculous.  So once again, I think Roy Jones Jr. and Roy Jones Jr. Promotions should  give Al Sands a chance to beat you . At least he is a professional fighter, who has trained hard, is ranked and has earned a chance to fight Roy Jones Jr. Minnesota fans if you agree with my opinion that Al Sands deserves his shot at Roy Jones Jr. please feel free to comment and express your opinion and maybe we can start enough heat to get this fight to happen. Because if Jones is willing to fight a fan from Minnesota, I don’t see why he wouldn’t give a fellow boxer a chance to proof himself. Man up! Where is the Respect Roy Jones Jr. #TheTruthHasSpoken
